A fierce blaze ripped through an abandoned Burnley house plagued by squatters.
The empty property in Reed Street was engulfed by fire early yesterday evening.
Firefighters described the blaze as serious after flames took hold of the mid-terraced house around 7pm.
Two fire engines arrived at the scene where they found a well-developed fire with flames and smoke shooting through the windows of the house.
Firefighters managed to enter the burning property and check that no-one was inside. The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes but caused considerable damage to the property. The blaze is being treated as suspicious and an investigation has now been launched.
The property had been unoccupied for some time. But fire chiefs said the house, which had been left with open access, had attracted people using it for anti-social purposes.
