Burnley girl (14) to compete in Great North Swim

A BURNLEY schoolgirl and super swimmer is set to take the plunge into the icy waters of Lake Windermere to raise funds for a cancer charity.

Abigail Pounder (14) who swims for Burnley Aquatics and is a pupil at Blessed Trinity RC College, will complete the one-mile Great North Swim on June 18th in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

She recently competed in the Great Salford Swim where she achieved a personal best time of 22 minutes and 22 seconds, finishing in seventh place overall in the female section and 28th overall in the event.

Anyone wishing to sponsor Abigail can do so on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday between 6-30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Padiham Leisure centre via Burnley Aquatics desk or Tuesday between 6-30 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the Burnley Aquatics desk at St Peter’s Leisure Centre, Burnley.
