A fire which broke out in the kitchen of a house in Burnley was caused by a chip pan. Firefighters were called to the property, in Violet Street, at 3-15am on Friday. When they arrived smoke was billowing from the downstairs windows.

Crews used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to put out the flames before clearing the house of smoke with a ventilation unit. No one was hurt in the fire.
