THE annual Burnley May Day Festival is set to return on Bank Holiday Monday with a parade, speakers from the Labour Party and a host of attractions in Towneley Park.
The procession from Burnley Town Hall, in Manchester Road, starts at noon and will be led by the Red Rose brass band. Speakers, including Hyndburn MP Graham Jones, Coun. Julie Cooper, leader of the Labour Group on Burnley Borough Council, and John Hobson, from the Haldane Society of Socialist Lawyers, are expected to take to the stage at Towneley around 1 p.m.
Attractions include a funfair, magic show and donkey rides, along with various charity and trade union stalls. It opens at 11 a.m.
