BRIERCLIFFE: Individual charged after after thefts

RURAL CRIME – There have been four rural crimes recently in the part of Briercliffe beyond Lane Bottom: three were house burglaries and the other was a theft from a parked vehicle. The homes and car were unlocked. An individual has been charged.

NEW POLICE OFFICER – PC Fran Fleming has been working on her new Briercliffe beat for several weeks. She is familiarising herself with the area, meeting people and assessing what needs to be done. The parish council has invited Fran to its next meeting on Monday, January 16th, at 7-30 p.m. at the community centre. You can contact Fran on 07984 316861.

BRIERCLIFFE SOCIETY – The Briercliffe Society is to hold its first meeting of 2012 at Briercliffe Community Centre, Jubilee Street, Harle Syke, on Monday at 7-30 p.m. Guest speaker is Martin Wrench who is to present his “An audience with Dame Dolly Dishcloth”. Entry, which includes refreshments, is £1. All welcome.

EVENTS AT HILL LANE – Hill Lane Baptist Church is holding two events this month. On Friday, January 20th, there is to be a showing of a DVD, “The Best of Buddy Greene”. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided. On Thursday, January 26th, at 7 p.m. there will be an evening at which Sue and Ian Paxton will talk about their work in Romania.

PARISH COUNCIL – Briercliffe Parish Council has its own website, www.briercliffe.co.uk. It contains contact details of members and officers of the council, a noticeboard which keeps residents up to date with what is happening in Briercliffe, details of meetings and information for allotment tenants. The Briercliffe Beat Team contributes to the site and the clerk has written a guide to small grants which are available to local groups. The website is managed by Coun.
