Arson probe after derelict dance studio fire

An investigation has been launched after an abandoned dance studio was set alight.

The fire service and Lancashire police are probing an alleged arson at a disused building on Edward Street, Lancaster at 11.26pm last night.

A spokesman for Lancaster fire service said: “We are still investigating the cause of the fire.

“We have not ruled out that the fire could have been started deliberately.”

And the police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

A police spokesman said: “We got a call from the fire service just before midnight.

“It looks as though some discarded blankets and bedding have been set alight causing some damage to the building.

“We are looking into it and making enquiries.

“If anyone knows anything about it can they call: 101 quoting log 1693 of 5, July.”
