A MAN had to be airlifted to hospital after suffering from a suspected heart attack at the weekend.

He had been at Burnley Cricket Club, in Belvedere Road, when he was taken ill just after 5pm on Sunday.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance attended the scene and dramatically landed on the field before taking him to Blackpool Victoria Hospital. The match, against Bacup, had to be halted while the man was treated but the home team went on to win the game.

A spokeswoman for the air ambulance said: “The North West Air Ambulance requested us to attend to transport a patient suffering from a suspected heart attack. We transferred the patient to hospital in Blackpool.”
