THE mother of a baby girl from Padiham who died just over a week ago joined friends and family members for a special fund-raising event in her memory.

Little Layla-Mai O’Malley-Shearer died in her sleep on Saturday, February 18th. Since the tragedy, friends of her 18-year-old mum Georgina O’Malley, of Victoria Road, Padiham, have rallied round and organised the fund-raiser at Koko’s in Elizabeth Street, Burnley.

Although the total has yet to be finalised, organisers said it is around £4,000.

There was a raffle and auction with proceeds going to a memorial fund for the “beautiful, cheeky and smiling” little girl. Paige Blezard, a friend of Georgina, said: “It went really well. It was nice to see everyone come together for Georgina.”

Layla-Mai’s funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 12-30 p.m. at St John’s RC Church in Padiham, followed by burial at Burnley Cemetery at 1-15 p.m.
