AS Beijing handed out the last of the Olympic gold medals, the gold rush started in Barrowford with a reincarnation of the old television favourite "It's A Knockout!"
In more than three hours of entertainment 300 spectators were crying with laughter as competitors in 11 teams dressed as giants and huge velour-covered budgies to make their way over a series of obstacles.
The competition was brought to Pendle by Daisy Communications, of Nelson, sponsored by Nelson firm Fort Vale Engineering, with the Rotary Club of Colne and other firms sponsoring individual events and teams.
Daisy is working to raise at least £20,000 in nine months for the Prince's Trust through its Enterprise Team and hopes Sunday's event has added £3,000.
This hilarious variation of the original television show, hugely popular in the 1970s and 1980s, is run by a Nottingham firm, Off Limits, which brought along its own events team.
Barrowford Cricket Club opened its pavilion for the sale of tea and snacks and received a £300 donation from Daisy.
The winners were a team from Daisy, the Dying Daisies, headed by Emma, wife of boss Matthew Riley, who – complete with gold medal around her neck – led celebration dancing.
