THE 2007/08 Winter League season came to an end when 36 Colne GC members travelled to Bentham on Sunday.
On a hot and sunny day, the morning saw members compete in a nine-hole Texas Scramble, with the team of Dave Foxcroft, Lloyd Whiteoak, Darren Cardwell and Paul Heap taking first place with a nett 25.6.

In the afternoon the Neil Brennan Trophy was up for grabs in a fourball competition. Ian Fry – who also won the nearest-the-pin award at the tricky eighth hole – and Chris Heap won with 44 points, eclipsing the efforts of the Keith Hartley-Derek Harker and Gary Potter-Phil Vernon pairings on 42 points.

After an enjoyable evening meal, club president John Burgoyne, captain Alan Harker and Alan Davies, a lifelong friend of Neil Brennan, presented the successful competitors with their prizes.

The Winter League itself saw John Collantine and Steve Birt retain the title. Fry and Harry Bolton were second, ahead of Kevin Valentine and Keith Wilson.
