Gary Speak missed out again after the latest card play-off at Clitheroe.
Nett 67 off a handicap of four deserves top spot, but Speak had to settle for second place in the weekend's Medal and Castle Cup Qualifier as Peter Foley's 79-12-67 and a better back nine just gave him the edge.

Andrew Heesom raised his game again
to score an impressive 71-2-69 to take third spot in Division One, leaving Steve Ackers and John Holt to occupy fourth and fifth places, both with nett 70s.

A four-way card play-off in Division Two was settled when David Knowles finished with a birdie at 18th.

His 70 nett score was matched by Alex Rigby, Paul Byrom and Orville Hudson, but Knowles' final flourish gave him the prize by a short head.

Jim Sprint continued his solid early season form to shoot a nett 71 for the final prize.

The Lancashire Foursomes qualifier on Sunday saw a reduced field due to the weather, but Tony Bridge and Nigel Clowes proved they can perform in any conditions by winning the Scratch Foursomes with a 75.

Ted Speak and Malcolm Brown finished one shot off the Scratch prize with a 76, but were rewarded with the Handicap top spot with a nett 68. Both couples will represent Clitheroe at Hesketh Golf Club for the Lancashire Championships in July.

The Clitheroe team for the ELGA Handicap Trophy at Darwen will be Heesom, Knowles, Speak and Foley. Ackers has qualified to play with the professional at St Annes Old Links in the National Pro-Am.
