TOWNELEY Golf Club won the prestigious Levens Cup for the third consecutive year on Saturday.
They scored a 15½-9½ win against their neighbours from Glen View in their annual match, with the best win of the day being recorded by Towneley's Phil and Tommy Patton, who scored a 6 and 5 success.
The Levens Cup is now in its 50th year, and Towneley president Ken Pott – who actually played in the first match – was on hand, along with captain Alec Aspden and Burnley's Alan Green, to present the trophy to Towneley team manager Chris Clough.
Both captains thanked Damien Hartley and his groundstaff for preparing a course in tip-top condition for the event, and after the event, members of both clubs enjoyed an excellent meal and a race night in the clubhouse.
