PRESIDENT'S Day at Marsden Park, postponed from August because of the awful weather, was contested in glorious sunshine on Saturday.
And, despite the course still being damp underfoot, over 120 people took part in the competition.

In accordance with President's Day tradition at Marsden Park a Bogey Competition was the order of the day and some creditable scores were returned.

In the Men's Section the overall winner was James Middleton with a score of +5, in second place was Jack Taylor (+3) followed by Trevor Dickinson (+3), Russell Binns (+3), David Perks (+3), Mark Eastwood (+2) and Geoff Butterworth (+2).

Gary Pollock won the prize for the nearest the pin in two shots on the 9th hole where he actually drove the green and then putted to get prize.

The nearest the pin competition on the 15th for the men was won by Richard Davies.

In the Ladies' Section the overall winner was Eva Pinder with a level score, followed by Julie Hargreaves with (-1) in second place and Julie Alderson (-4) in third place.

Margaret Frankland took the prize for nearest the pin on the 2nd hole being just 35 cm away from a hole in one.

The Juniors Section was won by Aaron Brierley with +9 followed by Adam Wormwell (+7).

The competition was followed by a presentation of the prizes and entertainment kindly supplied by Ian Haworth and Karen Wilkinson.
