The winners of Mytton Fold's flagship Algarve Pairs are Gordon Lucas and Jim Hindle with 38 points. Second were Neil Osliffe and Dave Clegg after a card play-off with John Berry and Bob Scott on 37 points.
Strong winds made scoring difficult in this winner-takes-all competition, which is sponsored by Mytton Fold Hotel.

The winners will now join the winners of the second Algarve competition, to be played in June, on an all-expenses-paid trip to the P
ortuguese golfing paradise later in the year.

Mytton's seniors enjoyed a three-day series of competitions at Hill Valley.

The Spring Shield and Frank Hargreaves Trophy events were held on the 6,500 yard Emerald course, followed by the Winner Takes All event on the Sapphire course.

The two-day Spring Shield event was won by captain Garry Davies with 69 points.

The Frank Hargreaves Trophy was won by Peter Tuck, after a card play-off with John Hammond, in Division One, with Frank Havard winning Division Two.

The tension-filled Yellow Ball competition was won by the team of Jim Hindle, Andrew Wilson, John Walmsley and Peter Tuck. Gordon Watts won the nearest-the-pin award, with Davies and Havard scooping the Secret Draw pairing, just ahead of Hindle and Harold Foster.

Kevin Shanley took the Winner Takes All final event of the series.
