MARSDEN Park members swept the board when the George Embley Memorial was contested on Saturday.
The popular open fourball event is contested at the Nelson club each year in memory of George Embley – a former sports editor of this newspaper and an active member of Marsden Park.

And despite the weather, the scoring on the day was excellent.
Paul Brzozowski and Steve Green (46) claimed top spot after a card play-off with Shaun Brearley and Stuart Smith.

A further card play-off edged Fred Greenwood and David Cloxton into third place with Adam Fothergill and John Ellison a point further back in fourth place.

Dawn Shaw and Janet Kelly (39) won the ladies' prize by a point from Margaret and Angela Frankland.

The event was organised by the Pendle Leisure Trust.

And they are also accepting entries for three other open events.
The Municpial Trophy is to be played on Sunday, Auguist 10th, with prizes for the overall winner, divisional winners, best gross and three ladies' prizes.

That is followed on Sunday, August 24th, by the Memorial Trophy, a medal competition with prizes in three divisions and ladies' prizes.
Entries for both those events cost £13 including the twos sweep.

On Saturday, September 24th, there is an open team event priced at £30 a team.

Further details can be obtained by ringing the golf shop on 661912.
