Legend supports charity event
England football legend Jimmy Armfield is urging keen golfers to take part in a charity tournament later this month.
Armfield, who chairs the Lancashire Partnership Against Crime, is inviting teams to take part in the organisation's annual Charity Golf Day sponsored by Ribby Hall Village and taking place at Preston Golf Club on Fulwood Hall Lane, Fulwood.
The event is on Friday, July 18th, and businesses from across the county will take part in an 18 hole competition on a splendid course involving teams of four. T
here will be morning and afternoon starting times, with a complimentary welcome pack, breakfast or lunch at the golf club and refreshments available all day.
The day will be followed by a prize presentation evening dinner at the club with entertainment from the popular comedian Vince Earl. There will be prizes for the top scoring three teams in the competition including the Ribby Hall Village Trophy for the overall winners. There will be further prizes for nearest the pin and longest drive on specified holes.
Paul Harrison, managing director of Ribby Hall Village in Wrea Green, said: "We are supporting this event because of the excellent work LANPAC do for the community and we have decided to do all we can to help the organisation raise funds. We will hope to continue with the support for the rest of the year."
The cost for a team of four including the competition, breakfast or lunch and presentation dinner is £275 plus VAT and all the proceeds from the day will be used to support community safety projects designed at making Lancashire a better and safer place to live and work.
Speaking about the event Armfield said: "This is a great competition on a great course and I am grateful to Ribby Hall Village for their sponsorship.
"The money raised really does make a difference in our local communities and we hope to hear from as many people as possible.''
An auction and raffle will take place during the evening and donations of any prizes would be most welcome. You are also invited to advertise your company on the day by sponsoring a hole.
