Ghyll lady captain Patricia Wilkinson much appreciated the hard work of the greens staff and several volunteers in keeping the course just about playable on her Lady Captain's Day.
She was also full of admiration for the large entry of ladies, who all completed the 18 holes, even if at times, during the heavy showers, they felt more like extras from "Singin' in the Rain" than golfers.
Hazel Lowther returned a splendidly impressive 37 points to take the winner's prize ahead of Anne Maud (33).
Nicky Donoghue (18) and Angela Massie (16) triumphed respectively on the front and back nine holes, while Margaret Taylforth (12) returned the best score for the middle six.
Rachel Strickland was within five feet three inches to be nearest the pin on Curlew's Cry; Eileen Chapple executed the straightest drive on St Mary le Ghyll, and Susan Tattersall won the clock putting competition.
