ROYAL Birkdale was not the only wet and windy golf course over the weekend.
But it was business as usual at Clitheroe Golf Club as members braved the elements.

And none fared better than Steve Dean who guided playing partner Tim Stanley to a 41-point total in the fourball stableford and first prize.

Dave Kitson and Richard Thompson lost out on a card play-off with the winners and had to settle for second with the same score.

The other Thompson, Garry, and playing partner John Pawson produced 39 points for third place.

The single stableford on Sunday saw John Wetton claim the spoils in Division One with a solid 37 points.

Archie Moro made a welcome return to the winners' enclosure by taking second prize but only after posting a better back nine than Scott Thompson with the same score.

Division Two saw Alan Houghton take top spot courtesy of a cracking front nine of 21 points.

Houghton's 38 point total gave him a two-shot margin over Nick Tomlinson and Doug Wheatley was a further two shots away in third.

Alex Rigby is having a tremendous season but nothing to date matches his nett 66 in the midweek medal.

A back nine of one over par gave him a three-shot advantage over second-placed Barry Thomas.

Simon Swindells got the better of his buddy Clive Wood after a card play-off for third place, both returning nett 70s. Chris Vines missed out on the prizes when a bogey six at the last gave him a nett 71.
