At Towneley, the Dream Team of Darren Whitaker, Paul Keenan, Andrew Miller and Jimmy Robertshaw came top of the pile in the Texas Scramble.
The awesome foursome had 12 birdies on their way to a nett 55.3 and a clear win.
Runners-up were Ventura's Aces, a team of Steve Horrocks, Steve Wyatt, Ken Heap and former Middlesbrough central defender Brian Taylor (57.1).

Less than a shot behind in third place were Beckenbauer's Kaisers, the team of Alan Trickett, Andrew Trickett, Mick Ellis and "Big" John O'Brien, and nearest-the-pin prizes went to Steve Wyatt and Darren Whitaker.

On Sunday a glorious summer's day greeted a large field for the Invitation Day.

The excellent condition of the course led to some excellent scoring, and pride of place went to Steve Turner and Marsden Park's Pete Edwards.
The had a betterball gross of 64 to win the competition with 48 points.

Nigel Clark and Rob Howarth (Nelson) were runners-up with an excellent 45 point tally, taking second spot on the card from in-form veteran Jimmy Robertshaw and Brian Pearson (Burnley).

Former club champion Darren Whitaker and Burnley's Barry Spargo recorded 68 to take the gross prize as Neil Jackson and Dave Horan took the nearest-the-pin awards.

Club president Ken Pott and captain Alec Aspden were once again on hand to present the prizes, with both once again commending greenkeeper Damien Hartley and his staff for their excellent work on the course and thanking organiser Steve Bird and his assistants, Gary Collinson and Steve Wyatt, for their efforts.

The evening, however, ended on a sombre note with the president sending the club's condolences to the family of Burnley Golf Club president Albert Lister, who died recently.

The "Tartan Express" was back on track again in the club's midweek stableford as club champion Andrew Miller's 43-point return earned top spot.

Runner-up was Willie Carruthers (42) by a point from J. Lundie.
