Dave in fine form at Towneley
David Lavin was in fine form once again to win the Captain's knockout qualifier at Towneley on Saturday.
The competition was played in very difficult conditions, but Lavin returned an impressive 74-6-68 – also the lowest gross of the day – to win by a shot from Chris Clough (78-9-69).
Ian Howarth won the Rabbits' knockout qualifier when he returned 92-26-66 to win by two shots from Bill McLellan (86-18-68).
The top 32 in each section qualify for the matchplay competitions and nearest-the-pin awards went to David Harrison and Chris Clough.
Steve Wyatt won the first midweek stableford of the new season at Towneley when he totalled 43 points – one more than the card returned by Hymey Clarke who also won the sweep.
