David Beesley showed the welcoming, generous and more serious side to his character in hosting his Captain's Day at Stonyhurst Park.
The overall winner was John Walne with 80-17-63, beating Daniel Crossley (77-14-63) in a card play-off.

Third place went to Declan Fitzhenry (78-14 -64) after a card play-off with Miles Slinger and Ross Hibbert.

The best gross was won by Steve Alcock with 77, beating Andrew Blockeel again on a card play-off.

Tony Baron won the best veteran prize with 86-19-67, Fitzhenry had the longest drive and Daniel Crossley won the prize for nearest the pin.

The captain's dry sense of humour and unique view on the world in general came to the fore in entertaining a record attendance of members and partners with his Captain's Day speech at the end of a memorable day.
