Blades too sharp!

BURNLEY golfer Gary Blades proved too sharp for his rivals as he lifted the prestigious Harold Ryden Trophy.
The best players from across the East Lancashire Golf Association converged on Glen View for the event.
And after 36 holes of qualifying in the scratch competition, Blades was third as fellow Burnley member Mark Ridgway led the way.
But as the matchplay stages unfolded, Blades produced a series of convincing wins.
In the quarter-finals he swept aside Accrington's Paul Biggins 4 and 3.
And then former champion Andy Westwell departed, 4 and 2.
That set up a final against another former winner, Nick Uttley from Nelson.
And Blades was again the dominant player as he won 3 and 2 after a close final.
Afterwards the former Nelson member said: "I have been in the top eight twice before, but never made it beyond the quarter-finals.
"Playing against Nick in the final was really enjoyable.
"The rivalry we had when we both played at Nelson was still there and at the end of the day, despite his disappointment, he was happy for me to win"
Uttley reached the final by beating Ridgway 2 and 1 in the quarters and then knocking out fellow Nelson member Tony Flanagan 4 and 3.
Flanagan had accounted for Tony Holt (Wilpshire) 1-up and the other quarter-final saw Burnley's Andy Riley lose 4 and 3 to Westwell.
The 36-hole nett prizes in the qualifying round were won by James Law of Accrington and Shaun Kendall from Burnley.
