Alan leads the way in charity event

Alan Rigby-Lovatt had the lowest score of the day when the St George's Charity Salver was contested at Burnley Golf Club on Sunday.
He returned 79-11-68 to top Division Two of the competition by a shot from Lloyd Bridge (82-13-69) as Division One honours went to David Cryer (83-10-73) and Tim Clarke (80-5-75).

Ian Henderson, Chris Adams, Sam Taylor and Paul Swain will make up the Burnley team for the ELGA Handicap Trophy at Darwen next month.

They each topped a division of the April Medal and Thornber Cup qualifier on Saturday.

Henderson (77-5-72) edged out Carl Parker (76-3-73) and Dane Harrison (78-5-73) in Division One as Adams (83-13-70) won a card play-off with Darren Jennings (81-11-70) in Division Two. David Baldwin (85-11-74) finished third.

Taylor had the lowest score of the day in returning 85-16-69 to win Division Three ahead of Stuart Duxbury (92-16-76) and Chris Murray (91-14-77).

And Swain (94-21-73) won a card play-off to take Division Four from Lyndon Davies (93-20-73) with Albert Holden (99-24-75) finishing in third place.

The Midweek Medal at Burnley saw Dave Bennett (88-21-67) win by two shots from Darren Jennings (81-12-69) as Chris Stevens (80-10-70) finished third.
