YOUNGER members of Towneley Golf Club have been to the fore in recent weeks.
But on Saturday it was the turn of one of the "heavyweights" at the club, Aidey Pearson, to card an excellent 77-13-64.

That landed him the John Smith Trophy to earn the veteran his first-ever major win at the club.

New member Colin Cavanagh was runner-up with 82-21-65, with third place going to teenager Antony Patton (78-13-65), and Steve Wyatt continuing his run of good form to take the gross prize.

Nearest-the-pin awards went to Gary Collinson and David Harrison at the eighth and 17th holes respectively.

Former club champion Darren Whitaker got his game back on track in the midweek stableford, with his 41 points beating Neil Jackson by two, Alex Kernachan claiming third on 38.
There are a few remaining places in the Open Fourball on Sunday, May 25th, and organiser Steve Bird (424215) has more details.
