PHOTOS: Classic cars take centre stage at Towneley Park
A FLEET of classic cars drove into Burnley’s Towneley Park for the 24th annual Classic Car Rally.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Burnley, the rally is the second major fund-raising event of the year for the charitable organisation alongside its annual golf day.
Motor enthusiasts from around the region also descended on the park, although attendance was down on previous years due to the recent wet conditions.
MGs, Bentleys, Triumphs and many other famous car names jostled for attention from the crowds.
Mr David Knagg, organiser for the Rotary Club, said: “We have organised the rally for the last two years because the previous organisers, Pendle and District Rover Association, have had a drop in members. We are only a small organisation ourselves so it is a great effort from everyone at the club.
“Although numbers are slightly down this year, we still hope to raise a good amount for numerous worthy recipients in the Burnley area.”
