A CONCERT given by “The Mark Lewis Trio” at Padiham’s Unitarian Chapel for the North West Air Ambulance and the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund thrilled the audience.

Although the audience was depleted by horrendous weather on the night, those who made it through the sleet and snow were rewarded with a superbly entertaining show. The group, which has a strong following in Ribble Valley’s vibrant jazz scene, displayed a quite incredible talent with a balanced programme of pieces from leading composers such as Gershwin, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern and Richard Rogers, to name a few.

When they played the jazz classic “Take the A Train” Wilf Nuttall’s command and speed on the vibes gave the impression the train was about to derail!

The next in the current season of charity concerts at the church is on March 2nd at 7-30 p.m. and will be given by two international performers of incredible talent, Maya Irgalina on piano and Kristine Healy on flute. Tickest are £7 0n the door, including refreshments. For more details phone 01282 773336 or e-mail: barryrbrown@goolgemail.com
