ENTRIES for this year’s Pendle Open Art Exhibition need to be taken to The ACE Centre this Friday or Saturday.

The exhibition, which is 29 years old this year, is one of the biggest art exhibitions held locally, regularly attracting more than 600 visitors over the three days, and next weekend artists of all ages and abilities will be showcasing their talents.

The display will be held between Friday, October 19th and Sunday, October 21st, from 10am until 4pm, with free admission.

Every year organisers, Pendle Leisure Trust aim to make it bigger and better for exhibitors and visitors alike, and new for this year, as well as the exhibition, there will also be an Art and Craft Fair inside The ACE Centre, an artist Swap Shop open every lunchtime and, as part of the Mary Portas Pilot scheme, an outdoor Art and Vintage Market in Nelson town centre.

This will be an extravaganza including art activities, jukeboxes and buskers, photo-booths, fashion shows and vintage hair and make-up sessions. The aim of the weekend is to attract 4,000 people into Nelson itself.

Pendle Leisure Trust’s Arts Development Manager, Kirsty Rose, said:

“I’m really looking forward to collecting artwork this weekend. It’s like my birthday, getting to unwrap all the amazing artwork the people of Pendle create.

“I also get chance to take some photos and interview some of the people exhibiting, so if you just can’t wait till next week, you can have a sneak peak at www.pendlegallery.blogspot.com.”

As always, the exhibition is open, so anyone is welcome to exhibit their artwork. It is a great chance to browse or buy an original piece of art and you can even vote for your favourite.

The winners will be announced just before the exhibition closes at 4pm on Sunday, October 21st.

The list of categories includes Pendle in Paint, Photography - Natural and Edited, Textile/3D, Portraiture, Landscapes, Open and Young Artist – This is for the younger entrants aged 7 years and under; 8-11 years and 12-16 years.

Artwork can be taken to The ACE Centre either Friday or Saturday, between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm.
