Diamond Jubilee dress by Burnley designer auctioned for charity
Mel Daggett models dress designer, Carrie-Ann Kay creations that will be auctioned at Towneley Hall for The Mayors Charity.
BURNLEY women are being given the chance to own a patriotic designer dress and raise money for worthy causes.
The dress was designed by Carrie-Ann Kay, who owns Artisan Boutique in Standish Street, and was inspired by the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the London 2012 Olympics.
Carrie-Ann has donated the dress to be auctioned in aid of the Mayor of Burnley’s charity appeal for Pendleside Hospice and other local good causes. The talented designer has pledged to alter the dress as required to fit the winning bidder.
Bids for the stunning creation can be made to the Mayor’s secretary on Burnley 425011.
Offers will also be accepted at a special fund-raising ladies’ luncheon and reception which takes place at Towneley Hall this Saturday, August 11th.
Ladies will dress in their finery and hats for a reception at 11-30am followed by lunch.
The guest speaker is Joyce Green MBE who will talk about “Making Changes In A Man’s World” and fourteen-year-old Alexandra Hopkinson, of Burnley, will play both the harp and grand piano during the lunch.
The luncheon has become a popular annual event and is organised by members of Mayoress Mrs Irene Bullas’s fund-raising committee .
