Briercliffe Beer Festival is big success
BEER FESTIVAL: Damon Haworth, Ormerod Green, Diane Levens and Barry Mills.
REAl ale enthusiasts were given a treat at Briercliffe Beer Festival.
The three-day event, which is held twice a year, took place at Briercliffe Social Club in Holgate Street and saw around 150 people sample a selection of guest beers behind the bar.
Many of the beers sold out and organisers are already looking forward to the next one in April.
Club treasurer Mr Ormerod Green said: “It went very well, we got quite a few people coming in and they all seemed to enjoy it.
“We had a good variety of beers and people were trying different ones. It’s a new experience for them and that’s what real ale is all about. We gave them the tasting notes and asked them to mark the beers out of 10. Every week we have a guest beer on so we can look at the most popular ones and get them in upstairs at the club.”
