Prepare for an invasion of inspiration this month when Burnley is transformed into a hotspot of talent as part of the official London 2012 festival “Project Triangle”.

Burnley’s Weavers’ Triangle, Sandygate Square, on Saturday from noon to 5pm will play host to live performances, workshops and film premieres for all ages.

The day is coordinated by nationwide project somewhereto_, in partnership with Burnley Borough Council with assistance from Mid Pennine Arts.

Coun. John Harbour, Burnley Council’s Executive member for Leisure and Culture said: “It’s a real honour for Burnley to be hosting an official London 2012 festival event, especially after hosting the Olympic Torch Relay a few weeks ago.”

Audiences can expect a flurry of diverse acts throughout the day  including Mancunian acts Bright Shapes, a swinging acoustic trio and rapper “B” (Billal Mahmood) who has secured his single on Tinie Tempah’s new album Coast 2 Coast, the most downloaded mixtape in the world.

Home grown indie talent Swamp Donkeys and heavy rock band SDR will be hitting the stage with classic covers and original tracks. Master of dubstep and hard electro Mungo Nation (Alex Walker-Ingham) will be working the decks.

The day will also see the disused Neptune Pub transformed into a cinema as a film extravaganza will be presented by the region’s most aspiring young directors.

For the grand finale a team of young cyclists will be peddling the spirit of the festival onwards to Skipton in a 25 mile journey.
