Calico residents in Burnley and Padiham are set for a blooming good spring, having brightened up their communities with special bulb planting events.

Residents and their children in the Abingdon area of Padiham planted a range of daffodils around Bedford Place Park, with help from Calico’s caretaking team.

Griffin and Barclay residents in Burnley also planted bulbs on the green spaces around the main routes through the estate.

The events were organised by Calico’s Neighbourhood Action Teams – in Padiham, the event was held in partnership with the Perseverance Area Residents’ Group.

Kathryn Davies, neighbourhood officer for Calico, said: “All the children who helped plant the bulbs were really enthusiastic. They’re all looking forward to seeing the daffodils in full bloom – it’s great to see how much pride residents of all ages take in their community.”
