WORSTHORNE: Appeal to share village history and artefacts

ST JOHN’S CHURCH – The next meeting of the Parochial Church Council, which will include the promised review of services, will be on Thursday, February 10th. Members are having an away day the following Saturday.

MOTHERS’ UNION – At the annual meeting, all officers and committee members were re-elected. Available monies were distributed, as proposed by the committee, to the caravan appeal, overseas fund and general fund. The Wave of Prayer will be on February 15th at St John’s, Worsthorne and members will have lunch together before the service at which they hope to be joined by friends from neighbouring branches.

ROOF FUND – £250 was raised for the fund by the sale of scarves knitted by Jan and Arlene.

WINE CIRCLE – At the annual meeting in December, the results of the annual wine-making competition were announced. The overall winner was Arthur Cassidy. Tickets are now available for An Evening with Tony Berry and Company on Saturday. For tickets, ring 433277.

SUNDAY SCHOOL – Prize-giving will take place during the Family Eucharist service on February 6th.

LEPROSY MISSION – Secretary Jan thanks all who ordered from the catalogue or contributed via collecting boxes. A donation of £466.56 has been made.
