THE Burnley Express served up brews for Burnley in the sunshine.
Shoppers popped in for a cuppa and home-made cake when the Express turned its front office into a tea room - complete with staff dressed in old-time costume including a Pearly King and Queen – to mark the 125th anniversay of the paper becoming a bi-weekly publication.
The Express is also producing special supplements and flashback features every week to take people back down memory lane.
On Saturday the first visitors were the Mayor and Mayoress of Burnley, Coun. David and Mrs Joan Heginbotham, who stayed for several cuppas before going on to their next engagement.
Along with members of the public who dropped in, they also thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment provided by The Flat Cap Pack – a quartet who describe themselves as Lancashire’s answer to the Rat Pack and were great fun.
There was a raffle, tombola and book stall and all the proceeds will go to the Mayor of Burnley’s charity appeal for Pendleside Hospice.
