Burnley’s annual Heritage Open Weekend gets under way today.

Visitors of all ages are invited to the Queen Street Mill Textile Museum which will be open Friday to Sunday from 12 noon to 5pm each day.

The mill’s steam engine ‘Peace,’ will be running every afternoon.

Peace is still in full working order, and is just one element within a collection of machinery which has been preserved by specialists at Queen Street Mill.

The collection also includes the original Lancashire boiler, which still powers the steam engine today.

On Sunday, visitors will have the opportunity to watch the Pennine Lancashire Historic Vehicle Cavalcade. Many vintage vehicles, classic cars and motorcycles will gather at the mill at around 10am before setting off at 11am on a tour of Pennine Lancashire.

Clog dancing group, the ‘Lancashire Wallopers’ will be performing during the afternoon.
