Archie Vickers certainly likes to step back in time – as he collects war memorabilia.

Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic College student Archie (12) started his hobby thanks to his granddad Peter Bartlett and he has continued adding to his collection ever since.

I am just really passionate about history and want to study history at university and become a history teacher

“My granddad gave me my great granddad’s medal from World War II which is really special as it’s personal,” said Archie, who with his parents also visit re-enactments and World War Two events.

“I love history so from that I just started collecting other bits, from eBay and such like - I have to empty the dishwasher at home to get pocket money for the items!

“I have German helmets, hats, replica bullets, a gas mask and obviously my granddad’s medal is precious so that’s kept extremely safe.

“I have visited the battlefields in Belgium and France and that was emotional. I am just really passionate about history and want to study history at university and become a history teacher.”
