Fitness fanatics in Burnley and Padiham made sure their local leisure centres enjoyed success by voting for them in a regional competition.

St Peter’s Leisure Centre in Burnley scooped the silver award while Padiham Leisure Centre took bronze for the best health club/leisure centre in the North-West region at the Health Club of the Year Awards.

Now in their fourth year, the awards received 35,000 votes from members rating their club on the quality of facilities, customer service and value for money. The winners were announced at a glamorous awards presentation which took place at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham. Three hundred guests attended the black tie event hosted by television presenter Mark Durden-Smith.

Scott Bryce, St Peter’s Centre manager, said: “To have both sites win these prestigious awards is a fantastic achievement by all the team. Burnley Leisure works extremely hard to deliver the very best standard of service and value for money. These awards reiterate that most of the time we get this spot on and would like to thank all of our members for their continued support.”
