GHOSTLY goings-on or high spirits?

That was the question posed yet again by the dedicated members of Clitheroe Paranormal Investigation Team when they set off on their latest quest - to discover more than just hot air at Burnley Town Hall.

I again went along as an impartial observer, this time accompanied by my tenacious colleague Ben Parsons, complete with the best photographic equipment a newspaper can buy.
The group, which had investigated Burnley Town Hall before, had been so intrigued by the experiences of its mediums, returned a second time.

Many people will not know that in the depths of Burnley Town Hall lie a number of deserted prison cells, once used to house the town’s criminals awaiting court or worse.

Now, the cells are deserted, except perhaps for the restless spirits of their former inhabitants. As with the team’s first visit, one of the team’s mediums experienced distressing feelings of former female prisoners kept in the cells many years ago.

Were they still there? Not being a medium, I could not say for certainty. Being locked in a cell with Ben Parsons was scary enough, but there was something quite unsettling about being in the bowels of the town hall.

At the end of another enjoyable night with Clitheroe Paranormal Investigation Team, the group packed up and analysed their videos. So if your house, or shop, or workplace is being troubled by more than your boss or your husband perhaps you should give them a call...
