A WEEKEND of surprises in the Pendle and District Cricket League saw the top two both lose to lowly opposition.
A brilliant batting performance gave Watan their first win of the season, as they beat Burnley Muslim by 30 runs.

Batting first, Watan made 191-3, before restricting their opponents to 161 all out.

And while all that was happening, league leaders Unity looked likely winners after restricting Jinnah to 89, before being skittled for 66.

Karim Khan (4-15) and Zahid Iqbal (3-18) did most of the damage.

Meanwhile, the third game of the day witnessed a massive 160-run margin of victory as United beat Hussainia.

A superb all-round performance by United saw them amass 203.

And then the bowlers took centre stage by restricting Hussainia to 43 in just under 20 overs.
