ANDREW Booth's seven-wicket haul was not quite enough to save Chatburn from slipping to the narrowest of defeats.
Chatburn won the toss, batted and amassed runs steadily throughout the innings. Mark Braithwaite (24) and John Reynolds (47) gave the innings a solid foundation.

And later runs were added by Paul Craig (19), Booth (26), David Musson (13) and Raphael Parker (13) as the locals were all out for 178.

In the end, the inability to bat out their overs cost Chatburn, as Wilsden won with just two balls to spare. Booth bowled unchanged and finished with 7-51 from his 21.4 overs.

But it was not enough and Wilsden closed on 179-9 for the tightest of wins.

The seconds also lost, beaten by six wickets by Haworth West End.

Chatburn batted first, and an excellent second-wicket stand between Rob Devine (70) and John Moore, who batted throughout for an unbeaten 85, laid the foundations for a big score.

Rod Booth finished unbeaten on 30 at Chatburn closed on 216-2.

But, in reply, Haworth won with three overs to spare, despite the efforts of Booth, who claimed 3-33.
