BURNLEY travelled to Rawtenstall for their Twenty/20 semi-final with something to prove after their loss in the Worsley Cup semi-final with Accrington the previous weekend.
Bharat Tripathi won the toss and elected to bat, a decision which proved conclusive in more ways than one.

Jeeva Julatunga and Daniel Pickup plundered the Rawtenstall attack for some hefty sixes both out of the ground and over the ropes, Pickup falling for 17 when the score was in the 60s after just five overs,
Two overs later the professional fell for an excellent 53 with the score at 81.

Michael Kelly (20), Stephen Whitaker (34) and Chris Burton(37 not out) put all the Rawtenstall bowlers to the sword, continuing at 10 runs per over to take Burnley to a 20-over score of 196-6.

At one stage the number of balls out of the ground and lost over the boundary edge was cause for some confusion as Rawtenstall scoured all parts of their ground to ensure the game continued within the time scales.

Rawtenstall began their innings in an even more convincing style, putting the opening Burnley bowlers over the boundary edge with ease, both professional Nathan McCullum and captain Andrew Payne pushing the score to 83 before a misunderstanding saw the Rawtenstall paid man run out by an accurate throw from Nathan Whitehead for 54 off only 27 balls.

From that point on there was to be only one winner.

In Tripathi's first over a run out and two wickets virtually ended the contest.

And when Kelly was introduced at the town end joined in on the act, claiming 4-19 off 3.3 overs.

With Tripathi going on to claim 4-12 off his allotted overs, Rawtenstall were bowled out for 115, some 81 runs short.

Burnley now visit East Lancashire on Friday for the final for what promises to be a big-hitting spectacle.
