RAIN put paid to much of the action in the Mewies Solicitors Craven and District Cricket League.
However, Kevin Pollard was on fire as Thornton moved into second spot in the First Division with victory over Cowling.
His knock of 70 was the cornerstone of their score of 172, before eight wickets from Marc Laycock saw the homesters dismissed for 132.
And Laycock was well assisted by keeper Tom Day, who took five catches, with three of them stood up to the wicket.
Barrowford's clash at Cullingworth fell victim, while Chatburn had made just 28-1 in the Fourth Division against Pendle Forest before the rain fell.
As for Thornton's second string, they tasted defeat at home to Riddlesden, despite Tim Gates hitting 97 and John Roughton 38.
That contributed to a score of 215-5, but the visitors chased that down for the loss of just one wicket.
In then Fifth Division, a nail-biter at Sutton saw Pendle Forest's third team get home by one wicket.
Sutton were restricted to 106-9 in their innings, as G. Phillips claimed 5-13, but despite Forest being restricted to 100-9 at one stage, they got home in the 43rd over.
However, Foulridge seconds suffered defeat at Glusburn thirds, dismissed for just 56 in reply to a massive score of 238-6.
