NELSON professional Robin Peterson once again inspired the Seed Hill side to victory with another fine all-round display against Colne.
The South African top scored with 87, his highest Lancashire League score, in Nelson's 199-8 in a 48 overs a-side game.

Peterson hit six fours and four sixes before falling to Adam Holt. He added 74 for the third wicket with David Crotty (25) after Anwar Ali had ripped out both Nelson openers Neil Thompson (7) and Sean Lemon (9).

Thomas Lord hit 22 while skipper Khurram Nazir added a further 14 runs. Sam Halstead (6) and Danny Kegg (7) saw out the home side's innings.
Colne professional Ali was the pick of the visitors' bowlers with figures of 5-65.

In response, the match was heading for an early close before the Colne batsmen had any chance to make an impression.

Peterson had no sympathy for a less than convincing Colne batting order as they fell in quick succession.

He and Sam Halstead teamed up and shared the early wickets as they took the scalps of Jeff Ellis (0), Lewis Rimmer (0), Liam Sumpter (13) and Mathew Wilson (4).

Peterson then won the battle of the pros as he took the wicket of Ali for just two runs and from there on in it was obvious that there could only be one outcome.

A rampant Peterson continued his onslaught and finished with
figures of 5-35 from 12.5 overs while Halstead also picked up 2-15 and Nazir 2-7.

Steve Wood was the only other batsmen to reach double figures with 10 as Colne were all out for 62 after just 25.5 overs, handing
Nelson a simple 137-run victory.

However, the previous day's events were the complete antithesis from Nelson's domination the day before when Colne turned the tables on their opponents in a tense affair at The Horsfield.

Colne professional Anwar Ali hit the sticks four times and claimed three lbws in picking up 7-57 as Nelson were bowled out for 93.

Robin Peterson top scored with 25 and Neil Thompson made 17 for the visitors with Colne skipper Jeff Ellis taking 3-31 at the other end. Meanwhile, Khurram Nazir, Stuart Lemon, Sam Tillotson and Sam Halstead all went for ducks which gave the away side a mountain to climb.

Peterson replied by bagging another five wickets but a sixth-wicket stand of 31, the highest of the match, between Colin Varley (19) and Ryan Procter, proved decisive.

Nazir removed Varley and then Peterson (5-37) snapped up David Spokes (6) and Adam Holt (0) but Procter faced 51 balls in making a match-winning 21.

Matt Walker (four not out) ensured the points stayed at The Horsfield by grinding out nine runs in eight overs with Procter as Colne reached their target with two wickets to spare.

Colne will now travel to Accrington on Sunday, while Nelson play host to Church, wickets pitched at 1-15 p.m.
