NELSON will be hoping they have brought the sun back with them after a Spanish tour ahead of the new Lancashire League season.
The Seedhill club enjoyed a pre-season trip to Majorca, taking in two 40-over games and a 20/20 competition.

What started out as a quiet holiday for five quickly developed into a 23-man tour once the Majorca CC website had been found.

Cheap flights, hotels at giveaway prices and warm sunshine, together with hospitable hosts and great organisation, saw everyone return intending to make the trip an annual event!

Nelson played Cardiff CC on a soft, sand-based pitch, with a fantastic artificial wicket.

Cardiff won the toss and elected to bat, turning the heat on Nelson and eventually posting 240-6 in their 40 overs, with Sam Halstead and Neil Thompson picking up two wickets apiece.

In reply, Nelson appeared comfortable, reaching 117-2 at the 20-over stage, having lost Thompson (19) and Lewis Bradley (26), but with Stuart Lemon still undefeated.

However, when Lemon perished on 65, a mini collapse followed, leaving Nelson short by 37 runs.

A gloriously warm day saw Nelson play Bletchley Town CC in the first 20/20 game, winning by 20 runs.

Nelson batted first, with Sam Tillotson (40) and Chris Willan (19 not out) contributing to their 108-7.

In reply, Bletchley were restricted to 88-9 with Thomas Lord returning the magnificent figures of 4-2-3-4.

Nelson then played hosts Majorca, restricting them to 87-4 in 20 overs, with the wickets shared.

With the barbecue fired up, Nelson wasted no time in reaching 91-3 from 13 overs, with Martin Heap (26) and Lord (28 not out) despatching the ball to all corners.

Majorca beat Bletchley in the last game, while Nelson took advantage of the facilities, with Lord being named player of the tournament.

A rest and recuperation day followed, before Nelson played Bletchley in a two-innings 20-over game.

Nelson batted first, posting 155-4, with David Crotty (42) and Sean Lemon (27) top scoring, before Bletchley replied with 67-6.

In the second innings, Nelson swapped their batting order around, resulting in Halstead (50 not out) and Stuart Lemon (40) seeing them to 148-4.

Bletchley fared no better in their second innings, finishing on 71-8.
