BATSMEN were in the ascendancy in the Mewies Solicitors Craven and District Cricket League, as wickets hardened up in the fine weather.
In the top flight, Thornton slumped to a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Crossflatts at Booth Bridge Lane. Kevin Pollard, with 58, was the backbone of the homesters' innings of 136.

Crossflatts found themselves at 31-3 before an unbroken fourth-wicket stand saw them to victory.

In the Second Division, new recruit Chris White took 5-23 for Ingrow at Barrowford as the homesters were dismissed for 96, after being 54-0.
The Keighley side took the points by eight wickets.

Long Lee's trip over the border proved fruitless as Pendle Forest saw them off by four wickets.

The Keighley side made a modest 121, which the Fence side passed in the 25th over.

Joe Bottomley 109 and Andy Parker 59 as Haworth West End soared to 281-3 at home to Barrowford second in the Third Division.

Tinashe Gomwe chipped in with 68 not out, then took 3-35 to help the Bull Holme side to 137 all out, with skipper Nick Burton making 75.

Skipton CI seconds rattled up 242-7 against Thornton in Division Five.

The Booth Bridge Laners made a valiant effort, but closed on 190.

Finally Little Marsden made a winning debut as they beat Glusburn thirds by 72 runs at Carleton.

Stafford and Iqbal were the mainstays of the Marsden innings, and then Andy Makin claimed 4-9 to ensure a winning start for the new team.
