LETTER: MP has got it wrong over improvement cash
I REFER to your article “Queensgate to ‘lose out’ in £3.5m split”, in which MP Gordon Birtwistle’s comment that this money was solely for the Brennand Street area, is wrong.
The bid which was submitted to the Government (a bid put in by the previous Liberal Democrat administration) covered several areas, so the money is, and never was, just to support the Brennand Street area – although the area is set to see a significant benefit.
The real issue here is that Gordon Birtwistle MP has misrepresented the position, perhaps knowingly and deliberately, or perhaps does not speak to his political colleagues – either way he is talking rubbish and misleading the Brennand Street community.
