Jobs cuts at Burnley Council

ONE in 10 workers at Burnley Council are set to lose their jobs.

Stunned employees were told last week that their posts had come under threat of redundancy as the council began its budget preparations for 2013.

Town Hall managers said “difficult and painful” conversations had been held with staff, with around 50 affected by the news.

Definite decisions are due in December with post holders being made redundant by March 2013.
