ASBOs for teenagers who terrorised Burnley residents

TWO teenage terrors who tore around Burnley General Hospital on their bikes have been given anti-social behaviour orders.

Alexander Capstick (16), of Townfield Avenue, Worsthorne, and Oliver Spencer (14), of Humber Square, Burnley, were issued with ASBOs by Reedley magistrates following a Burnley Borough Council and Burnley Police application.

Daniel Wimbles (16), of Brent Street, Burnley, was given an interim ASBO for similar behaviour.

Police said the group had “plagued” the Queensgate and Lanehead areas of Burnley for a number of months, prompting residents to complain of being verbally abused outside their homes.

Sgt Martyn Holt said: “These teenagers have plagued local residents in the Queensgate and Lanehead area of Burnley for years now.

“Local officers have worked together with the public and as a result we have managed to secure the two ASBOs. It is a great example of the police and communities working together to solve local issues.

“There has been a significant reduction in anti-social behaviour in both of the areas since the ASBOs have been put in place.”

Under the terms the pair must not use abusive or threatening or offensive hand gestures towards uniformed members of Lancashire Police; throw any object at a person, vehicle, house or property with the intention of causing damage, harrassment, alarm or distress.

They are also banned from entering an area of Queensgate bounded by Brennand Street, Colne Road, Casterton Avenue and Briercliffe Road, unless supervised by a parent or guardian.

All three must not associate with each other.
