THERE will be a new editor at the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times from next month.
Next week's edition will be my last after 25 years at the newspaper, the past six as editor.

Taking over will be Roy Prenton, currently editor of Leader-Times Newspapers, who will assume responsibility for all four titles.

Having spent 42 years in various newsrooms, I now hope to spend more time with my family.

It has been a privilege to work at the Advertiser and Times and to be part of a special and exceptional community.

I will take many memories with me, particularly becoming the first female editor, the move from broadsheet to tabloid, hitting a record weekly sale of 10,500 copies – and the launch of our website clitheroeadvertiser.co.uk

Our work experience programme has seen scores of local young people working alongside us and resulted in many pursuing careers in the industry.

The staff at the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times have been the best – and I take pride in the fact many of our trainees have gone on to achieve prominence nationwide.

Finally, my sincere thanks to our loyal readers and valued advertisers for their continued support of our extremely special local newspaper.
Long may it continue.

Vivien Meath
