On the clock…

1) Craig Beattie on the break for Sheffield, but Christian Kalvenes nipped in quickly to deny him a chance.

3) Chris McCann in well to deny Brian Howard the chance of a shot. The resulting throw-in was recycled to Kyle Walker who shot from long range but Brian Jensen had it covered.

6) Greg Halford is lucky not to be booked after dragging Clarke Carlisle back by his shirt.

8) Clarke Carlisle wins a crucial header, the clearance falls to Stephen Quinn but Chris McCann blocks his 25-yard shot. Play bounced to the other end of the field and Burnley have their first real chance, but drags his 20-yard shot wide.

13) GOAL!! Wade Elliott launched Burnley on their first serious attack. After a mazy run which beat two defenders, he slipped the ball inside for Chris McCann. McCann's shot was charged down, but the rebound ran to Elliott who curled it into the top corner with a sweet right foot strike from 20 yards.

16) Chris Morgan escapes with a warning after scything through the back of Steven Thompson's legs with a reckless challenge.

18) Martin Paterson has his first sight of goal, but his shot is blocked on the edge of the Sheffield United area.

19) Burnley's first corner of the game sees Robbie Blake plant the ball on Chris McCann's head, but the midfielder's effort flies over the bar.

22) Brian Howard curls a left-footed free kick wide of the far post, although Brian Jensen appeared to have it covered.

22) Chris Morgan fouls Steven Thompson again and the Clarets have a free kick in a dangerous position, but it comes to nothing.

23) Clarke Carlisle booked for a foul on Greg Halford.

27) Joey Gudjonsson replaces the injured Chris McCann.

30) Wade Elliott embarks on another surge forward and squares the ball to Martin Paterson who drifts a shot just wide of the angle.

32) Kyle Naughton needs lengthy treatment after getting on the wrong end of a superb Clarke Carlisle tackle.

41) Burnley win a free kick on the right wing for a foul on Martin Paterson. Steven Thompson heads Robbie Blake's free kick back into the danger area, but no one is on hand to finish the chance off.

44) Nick Montgomery tries his luck from 25 yards, but his effort is dragged wide of the target as the Clarets go into the break in the lead.

45) The Clarets almost double their advantage on the stroke of half-time as Joey Gudjonsson frees Martin Paterson who, in turn, releases Wade Elliot. Elliott's cross finds Steven Thompson but his header is narrowly off target with keeper Paddy Kenny beaten.

48) Burnley start the second half with a corner which leads to another. Robbie Blake floats the second corner into the area, Steven Thompson heads the ball on and Michael Duff just misses the target as he slides in at the back post.

51) Stephen Quinn broke well from the half-way line and looked set to threaten Burnley's lead, but Graham Alexander dispossessed him with the best tackle of the game.

53) Sheffield United win their first corner of the half but Brian Jensen easily deals with Greg Halford's header.

54) Neat interplay between Martin Paterson and Joey Gudjonsson leads to a Paterson cross deep to the back post. Steven Thompson heads it back across the face of goal but Joey Gudjonsson's first time shot is blocked on the line by David Cotterill.

58) Jamie Ward replaces David Cotterill as the Blades go for the crucial goal they need to stay in the game.

66) Steven Thompson looks to be miles off-side but is waved through. He squares the ball to Robbie Blake in the penalty area and as he shapes to shoot Kyle Walker robs him with a sensational tackle.

68) Sheffield United see penalty claims turned down.

69) Chris Eagles for Robbie Blake.

72) Jay Rodriguez for Steven Thompson.

76) Sheffield United win a free kick on the right wing but the danger is cleared upfield and Martin Paterson is unlucky to see his goalbound shot charged down.

79) James Ward sent off for a second bookable offence.

82) Arturo Lupoli for Brian Howard.

85) Lee Hendrie replaces Stephen Quinn.

90+3) Arturo Lupoli booked for a petulant kick at Wade Elliott.

Many congratualtions from a Scarborough Athletic (formerly Scarborough FC) fan. Well done on keeping the faith. Enjoy every minute of next season. I'm sure I miss visiting Turf Moor (a proper ground and proper club - shame the namby pambys missed playing in front of the old Long Side!) than you miss playing the likes of Scarborough but your story gives hopes to everyone.

Congratulations to Burnley and your wonderful club - and welcome back to the big league!
With my team Wolves, we are both back where historically we should belong!
For you it has been a long time coming but it gives me great pleasure to see one of football's oldest clubs in the Premiership.
You will have many local derbies next season so GOOD LUCK for 2009/10 and I hope we both stay up!
