The Norwegian left back combined superbly with Chris McCann before slipping the ball through Paul Rachubka's legs five minutes from time to win a game which, at times, bordered on farce due to the strong wind and rain, with both goalkeepers struggling to take goal kicks.

The win took Burnley through 5,000 league points, and lifted them to seventh in the Championship, level on points with Sheffield United in sixth, and one behind Cardiff in fourth.

2 mins - Danny Coid's cross is headed at goal by Claus Jorgensen, and his effort swirls away, with the aid of a deflection, just wide for a corner.

8 mins - Kevin McDonald clips a shot wide after Rhys Williams, Martin Paterson and Chris Eagles combine.

9 mins - David Vaughan sends Coid down the right, and his low centre misses Brett Ormerod at the near post, and DJ Campbell at the far.

10 mins - Robbie Blake's free kick fall to the left of the box, where hesitant defending allows McDonald to pass the ball towards the bottom corner. His effort is hacked away, and Paterson's hooked follow up is again cleared off the line.

13 mins - Charlie Adam heads Gary Taylor-Fletcher's cross wide at the far stick, and is furious with himself, smashing the ball into the advertising hoardings.

In farcical conditions, Brian Jensen struggles to take a goal kick, with the wind blowing the ball around.
When he finally clears, his kick is headed back and flicked on by Taylor-Fletcher, and Campbell beats the off-side trap, only for Williams to get back well and prevent him getting a free strike at goal.

With both keepers struggling to take goal kicks, Mason consults Tony Parkes and Owen Coyle, but the game continues.

63 mins - Eagles is harshly booked after O'Donovan makes an elaborate fall.
